Eating & going to bed in Spanish time, means we are getting up much later than normal. Quiet day today (which was awesome). Left the house around 11am & made our way to Mecado (markets) as Ian & I promised to cook an Australian dinner. Decided on braised lamb shanks with potatoe mash & beans - with hand gestures & using the ITranslate app we managed to get most ingredients.
In Sabadell where Marta's family live, it is a beautiful city but does not have many tourists - so I think we were a novelty at the market - they were all so friendly. Bought some lunch from the most amazing bakery on our way home with the shopping. Marta finished work at 2.30pm & showed us the supermarket to get a few ingredients we couldn't find at the market. Dropped these off & then headed out for a drink till about 5pm, returned to start dinner, as I type this the lamb shanks are slow cooking in the oven & Margarite has just come home from work.
So the lamb was a hit - Ian did a great job, my mash was more like potatoe soup but tasted as it should!! We met Marta's boyfriend, Ferran - really nice guy.
